Open innovation concept within the highly dynamic global socio-economic environment is based on the idea that corporate entities should take advantage of the various external and internal ideas for doing things differently in an organization (Almaazmi et al., 2020; Nuseir et al., 2021). Open innovation in this context should be understood to mean the utilization of combination of knowledge outflows and attendant inflows, to accelerate internal innovation while at the same time expanding opportunities for external utilization of innovation (Al Suwaidi et al., 2020; Alameeri et al., 2021). A robust open innovation model for any enterprise within the global socio-economic and political landscape should be rather strategic in managing the exchange of valuable information with is irrelevant to the boundaries of classic organizations (Alzoubi et al., 2022; Ghannajeh et al., 2015). Such exchange of information is critical to the growth of an enterprise, particularly because it is aimed at influencing and integrating individual corporate resources and related knowledge into the internal channels of an organization’s innovative processes (Al Naqbi et al., 2020; Obeidat et al., 2021). In order to critically analyze the concept of open innovation in the modern business environment, it would be important to analyze how such an idea helps improve growth of typical enterprises (AlMehrzi et al., 2020; Odeh et al., 2021). Such an analysis would regularly span a discussion on the different mediators in the link between open innovation and organizational performance. Of specific and extreme importance in the following discussion is an analysis on whether the concept of procurement agility is explored in any possible research as a critical mediating factor in exploring the relationship between open innovation, procurement sustainability and organizational performance. The two questions the research will attempt to answer are: …
