Guest Editorial: Special Issue on Advances in Computer Vision and Applications (ACCV 2020)

ACCV 2020, originally to take place in Kyoto, Japan, was instead held online due to the COVID situation, during November 30–December 4, 2020. The conference featured novel research contributions from almost all sub-areas of computer vision. After dedicated work by many reviewers and area chairs, 255 papers were accepted from 836 submissions. An award committee then selected papers to be given three awards: the Saburo Tsuji Award for best papers, the Sang Uk Lee Award for best student papers, and the Songde Ma Award for best application papers. We, the guest editors of this special issue and the program chairs of ACCV 2020, invited the authors of the papers that either won one of the awards or were honorably mentioned for the awards to submit extended manuscripts based on their ACCV papers. The submitted manuscripts were subject to a renewed peer-review process before they were accepted. We would like to thank the authors for their valuable contributions to this special issue as well as the reviewers, who contributed helpful suggestions for further improving the manuscripts’ quality, and the editorial staff of the journal for their patient support during the editorial process. …
