Abstract

The concept of Industrial Internet brings great potential for realizing intelligent products. In order to identify and locate information objects associated with these smart things, an identifier-locator mapping system is one of the most recognized technologies that enable the product information network. However, existing approaches lack enough attention to the locality issue. No matter aggregating information to the initial manufacturer or a random node calculated by some consistent hashing algorithms, all of these proposals will violate the administration of autonomous product information system as well as cause high latency and communication costs. To solve this issue, we propose a hierarchical multi-source name resolution service based on a two-level mapping system. Only the latest redirection is published on a global scale, while detailed mapping records are still maintained in each local subdomain. Furthermore, we propose two types of resolution mode based on this mapping system. A basic mode always originates the resolution request from an inter-domain name resolution, while the improved mode is a locality preference query mechanism. Through the theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, we find that if only the percentage of local queries exceed 20 %, the improved mode will behave much better for a trace query.
