In this case, the handover was from one person to another. Highly automated cars on SAE level 4 can manage most but not all of the situations they will encounter on the road, which means that the driver will in some circumstances have to take over control quickly. But because the cars of the future are unlikely to have steering wheels or pedals, new input devices will be needed. …
