A union co-op, which is short for unionized cooperative, is usually defined as a worker cooperative in which trade unions represent the worker-owners’ interests through negotiating a collective bargaining agreement. Some cooperatives explicitly support trade union participation in their organizations to demonstrate solidarity with the labor movement’s fight to obtain worker protections or to negotiate labor contracts for advancing worker interests within organizations.
