Abstract

In this work, hierarchical titanium silicate (HTS-1) zeolite membrane was prepared through a facile hydrothermal treatment method following dissolution–recrystallization mechanism. The structure and composition of the synthesized HTS-1 membranes were characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDX, respectively. It was observed that the HTS-1 membranes possessed hollow feature which depended on the basic hydrothermal medium, consisting of TS-1 zeolite particle, TPAOH template, and water. The gas permeance and desalination test results showed the hollow feature enabled the HTS-1 membrane with superior gas/water permeability to the conventional solid TS-1 membrane. This work provides new insights for membrane flux enhancement.
