Taking it to the limit: Aston Martin has presented the engine of its new Valkyrie hypercar which will be launched in March 2019. In collaboration with Cosworth, it has produced a 6.5-l naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a maximum power output of 746 kW at 10,500 rpm. The maximum torque is 740 Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine is a fully stressed element and has a correspondingly robust design. The large cast components, such as the engine block and the cylinder head, are machined from solid material, together with many other engine parts. These include the titanium conrods and the F1-spec pistons. At just 206 kg, the engine is a lightweight, but only in terms of its size, not its performance. Aston Martin already has improvements planned. The torque of the twelve-cylinder engine will be enhanced even further by means of a hybrid system.
