Abstract

This paper aims to provide a general and effective theoretical calculative method for the operational states of the stator windings’ closed-loop, self-circulating, CLSC evaporative cooling system for hydrogenerators. The object-oriented concept was used in dealing with the real circulating cooling loop so as to develop numerical simulation software. At the same time, the experiment was carried out in a cooling system model in order to verify the validity of the simulation. Comparative results show that the maximum relative errors between simulation and experimental results are less than 10%. In general, the mathematical model of the circulating system is satisfied and the algorithm of the numerical simulation is correct. The simulation accurately predicts the condition of the real electrical machine.
