Wabco and Nexteer are entering into a collaboration to develop and supply active steering systems for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. They will integrate the proven Magnasteer technology into the suite of power steering gears supplied by Sheppard. Wabco announced that it was taking over Sheppard, a company specializing in steering systems, in September 2017. Nexteer’s Magnasteer technology has been engineered in such a way that it can be fully integrated into Sheppard’s steering gear product line. It can also be scaled for use in trucks and buses. As a result of an existing exclusivity agreement between Nexteer and Sheppard, Wabco can now offer commercial vehicle manufacturers in North America a cost-effective, innovative solution for active steering systems. In addition, Wabco has access to this technology in all medium- and heavy-duty commercial truck markets outside North America. This access is on an exclusive basis, except in China. …
