MAN Engines has launched its new D4276 engine series for agricultural machinery. The 16.2-l inline six-cylinder diesel engine (bore × stroke: 142 × 170 mm) is available with two power outputs. The less powerful version with a VTG turbocharger produces 515 kW and 3250 Nm of torque (950 to 1500 rpm). The more powerful engine with a fixed geometry turbocharger delivers 581 kW and 3400 Nm (1350 to 1600 rpm). The engine is 1464 mm long, 978 mm wide, and 1131 mm high and weighs 1280 kg. The D4276 is based on the previous D3876 model and uses the existing top-down cooling system, which spreads the coolant along the entire length of the engine through the upper water jacket of the cylinder head to ensure consistent cooling of all the cylinders. The crankcase and pistons have been modified to accommodate the cooling system. With a turbine housing made from heat-resistant cast steel and a compressor housing made from heat-resistant aluminum, the turbocharger is highly robust. MAN supplies a modular exhaust gas treatment system for the engine.
