Abstract

The properties of bimetallic bars made with a periodic (ribbed) surface texture by explosive cladding and rolling are studied theoretically and experimentally. An analysis is performed to establish how the oval cross section of starting strips with cladding layers of different thicknesses affects the structure, properties, and thickness distribution of the layer. The cladding-layer thickness is optimized to ensure that the final product has the necessary corrosion resistance. The software package Forge2007® is used to numerically model the process.
