From 1992 to 1995, Radovan Karadžić—former President of Republika Srpska (RS), Head of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), and Supreme Commander of the Bosnian Serb Army (VRS)—orchestrated, in both idea and deed, a military campaign that took 100,000 lives. Most of the victims were Bosnian Muslims, many of whom were killed in atrocities that led the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) to indict Karadžić on charges of genocide in 1995. After 13 years on the run, he was arrested and brought before the ICTY in 2008. On March 24, 2016, a Trial Chamber of the ICTY convicted Karadžić of 10 of the 11 charges against him, including genocide (against non-Serbs in Srebrenica), extermination, persecution, forcible transfer, murder, inhumane acts, terror, and hostage taking. He was acquitted for genocide in the Bosnian municipalities of Bratunac, Foča, Ključ, Kotor Varoš, Prijedor, Sanski Most, Vlasenica, and Zvornik. …
