Tidying might conjure images of spaces that are clean and pleasing to the eye, but a closer look shows the link between what you keep and subsequent choices about what you focus on, care for, and invest in. Joy at Work examines “clutter” of all types. It argues that keeping too much “stuff” can distract you from properly appreciating what will best facilitate your personal and professional fulfillment, and it provides a model for choosing what to keep. It is a meaningful exercise that prompted me to make radical changes to managing my email (where my behavior was highly dysfunctional) and to revisit and tweak my approach to managing my time (where I was effective, but had room to improve). …
