Zusammenfassung

Menschen mit gesundheitlichen Beeinträchtigungen sind in besonderem Maße von Stigmatisierungen betroffen. Die negativen Effekte individueller und institutioneller Stigmatisierungen umfassen nicht nur Verschlechterungen des körperlichen und psychischen Wohlbefindens oder einen verschlechterten Zugang zur medizinischen Versorgung, sondern gehen weit darüber hinaus. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, einen Überblick über Verständnisse und Formen von Stigmatisierungsprozessen zu geben und Möglichkeiten ihres Abbaus durch strategische Kommunikation zu diskutieren. Der Beitrag möchte darüber hinaus für prototypische Konstellationen sensibilisieren, in denen Akteurinnen und Akteure der Gesundheitskommunikation durch ihr Handeln problematische Stigmatisierungsprozesse versehentlich selbst auslösen können.
