Across the Alps, tourist destinations have begun to look into renewable energy sites as potential tourism attractions. Even though it is still a niche sector, there are increasingly more places that have succeeded in maximising its potential. Particularly with regard to the growing shift towards greener economies, changing lifestyles and a race to develop innovative products, this type of sustainable tourism is experiencing more and more demand. Renewable energy-based tourist attractions combine technical fascination, emotion, sustainability, education, leisure, fun and nature and are thus interesting for a very wide range of visitors.
