Geological surface mesh generation is a prerequisite for 3D topographical modeling and also is one of the most difficult tasks due to the complication. Interpolating surface modeling is a new paradigm using interpolating grid to model surfaces of any arbitrary topology. In this paper, we combine it with the traditional Delaunay triangulation algorithm to design a new surface mesh generation scheme. Using this scheme can avoid the disadvantage of the traditional analytical model on the discontinuous surface modeling and can establish the underlying geometric model from random scattered measurements, The results of the applications show that it produced a good mesh shape. The ability to deal with the sharp changes also is very good. All of these characters make this scheme have a great potential application in finite element analysis in geological area.
