Abstract

Severe plastic deformation methods are the main top-down approaches for applying mechanical deformation on the material in which equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) is the most favorite one. In the presented study, ECAP process of a sheet-type samples were investigated by both FEM and experimental works. Firstly, evaluation of FE simulation was done using both practical works and theoretical equations. Then, the results of suggested Taguchi simulations were used to determine the relations between inputs and outputs by regression analysis. Afterward, the influences of input parameters on outputs were obtained by ANOVA. Finally, the microstructure evolutions of samples were discussed using metallographic techniques. It was inferred that after ECAP, the average grain size was reduced to smaller than the half value.
