Zusammenfassung

Die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung darf nicht nur – wie in der neoklassischen Ökonomik – an quantitativen Wachstumsmaßstäben gemessen werden. Vielmehr muss sie – in Anknüpfung an die Schumpetersche Ökonomik – auch nach der qualitativen Veränderung grundlegender wirtschaftlicher Strukturen über längere Zeiträume hinweg beurteilt werden. Insbesondere der Übergang in eine wissensbasierte Bioökonomie, bei dem es sich um einen radikalen, langfristigen Transformationsprozess handelt, sollte in diesem Sinn betrachtet werden. Dieses Kapitel verfolgt deshalb einen innovationsökonomischen Ansatz, um die bevorstehenden Wandlungsprozesse angemessen zu skizzieren und in den generellen Kontext einer Ökonomie des Wandels zu stellen. Wachstumsoptimistisch beleuchtet es das Zusammenspiel unterschiedlicher Akteure in wissensintensiven Innovationssystemen und fragt nach den Bedingungen für Konzepte, die ganze Volkwirtschaften auf einen neuen Entwicklungspfad bringen können.
