This edition of Constitutional Political Economy is devoted to a collection of papers in honour of Viktor Vanberg—to mark the occasion of his formal retirement from the chair of economic policy at the University of Freiburg. While Constitutional Political Economy has published a number of symposia and collections, this is the first time that an issue has been devoted to the celebration of a single individual—and it is entirely appropriate that we honour Viktor in this way since it is unlikely that, without Viktor’s enthusiastic and persistent efforts, the journal would exist, and certain that it would not have achieved its present success. Together with his colleagues James M. Buchanan and Richard Wagner, Viktor was instrumental in the foundation of the journal, and was its Editor from its inception in 1990 until 2001. Everyone who reads and publishes in Constitutional Political Economy has much to thank Viktor for. …
