Abstract
Our biggest challenge in this new century is to take an idea that sounds abstract—sustainable development—and turn it into reality for all the world’s people.Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations.
The use of non-traditional approaches is suggested for engineering education, where the concept of SD is integrated with a systematic approach to be used not only as the theoretic foundation and philosophy of engineering education but also as a basis for future strategies and tactics. The essence of our approach not only consists of the knowledge to be obtained by the future experts of sustainable development, but the concept also became the basis of all basic disciplines and courses in the system of continuous education.
