Reams of pages have been written about methods in journals and textbooks, in dissertations and essays, on methods both qualitative and quantitative, concerned with philosophy and technique. We do not intend to add to this debate in any substantive manner, rather offer a few words in provocation. Despite some anti-method sentiment, we are still optimistic about the promise of some “magic in method” (May 1994, p. 10). …
