Abstract

The operating principle and structure of the state primary standard for the units of volume density of electrical charge in ionized air and of the number density of ions in air, GET 177–2010, are described. Its areas of application are demonstrated. The characteristics of the most widespread air ion counters and of industrial and household ionizers are discussed.
