Zusammenfassung

In diesem Kapitel werden die Merkmale von Todesuntersuchungen und verdächtigen Todesfällen analysiert. Mit Hilfe der Ergebnisse aus dem Foul Play Project, (FPP), untersucht dieses Kapitel eine Reihe von charakteristischen Todesfallmerkmalen, die mit der Frage, ob Autopsien durchgeführt werden, in Verbindung stehen könnten. Die Auswirkungen von familiärem Druck, Medien, gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen und anderen Faktoren werden bewertet. Die traumatische und stigmatisierende Auswirkung von Todesfällen auf die Familien und Freunde wird betont. Die FPP-Ergebnisse basieren auf einer Zufallsstichprobe von 5366 Fällen, die möglicherweise Verbrechen betrafen und in den Medien veröffentlicht wurden.
