In February 2016, the editor of TechTrends contacted me to ask if I would review the book Emergence and Innovation in Digital Learning: Foundations and Applications, edited by George Veletsianos. I agreed at the time, and for the past two years I have carried that book in my laptop case every day I have gone to work, and on every trip where I have taken my computer with me. Like a graduate student, transporting a required reading for class everywhere they went, but always finding something else to work on as an excuse not to complete the reading assignment.
